PACT practice reports

By participating in a PACT project, PACT members will be provided with a bespoke PACT practice report at the end of the data collection period. This can then be used for local quality improvement projects and practice service development, speeding up conventional timelines for research delivery.

Using PACT practice reports for The Hidden Workload Study

  • By participating in The Hidden Workload Study, we hope that you will be able to better understand the day-to-day work that clinicians are carrying out in your practice.

  • Utilising these data also provides an ideal opportunity to fulfil quality improvement requirements, such as those required by Foundation Programme and GP training schemes, or as a Continuous Professional Development activity for qualified clinicians. Quality improvement projects could also be used as evidence of service development activity for practice CQC inspections.

  • You will receive a PACT practice report after data collection has ended for The Hidden Workload Study, containing workload data for a demographically similar practice (see below).

  • We will also send each participant their own workload data for them to review. Participants are under no obligation to share their own workload data with their practice or colleagues.

  • Below are two example quality improvement project outlines that you could utilise before and after receiving your PACT practice report, utilising a Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) approach and the NHS England Model for Improvement.

Using PACT practice reports for Why Test

Different quality improvement activities triggered by PACT practice reports from the Why Test PACT project

  • PACT members who participated in the Why Test PACT project have already successfully utilised their PACT practice reports to improve care locally:

    • 58% of participating practices have discussed their PACT practice report in a practice meeting (with a further 39% also planning to in the future).

    • 50% of participating practices then went on to use their PACT practice report for quality improvement, education, or practice learning (with a further 44% also planning to in the future).
